The people of the most backward tribes of the state will now be able to show their skills to the national level, Baiga Olympics are being organized to enhance their talent and promote the culture across the country in which people of Baiga tribe of many regions will participate.

For the Baiga people of special backward tribe, the Khel Mahakumbh with their traditional equipment is being organized in the premises of Goverment School of Excellence in Baihar Tehsil of Balaghat district on 4,5 and 6 January, 2020.

Baiga Sports

The Olympics held from January 4 to January 6, 2020, include the Baiga tribes residing in Rajnandgaon, Bastar, Kanker, Jagdalpur, Bilaspur, Kawardha, Ranchi and Dhanbad in Jharkhand, Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh, Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Gondia and Wardha districts of Maharashtra. Is expected to join

Traditional games of Baiga tribe have been included in this Olympics. The competition includes hunter games like Dhanushban, Rassa-Kasi, Matka race, Bora race, Tritangi race, Relay race, Bhalafenk, Vajni game (Kusti), Lipa-poti, Kabaddi, Kho-kho, Volleyball etc. Apart from this, Baiga will perform traditional dances at night and will also present other cultural events. Apart from this, traditional dishes of the Baiga tribe will also give people a chance to become familiar.

 

The Torch of Baiga Olympics

The Baiga Olympics begin by lighting a special torch. A promotional vehicle also accompanies this torch. After lighting the torch, the vehicle is flagged off by the Balaghat administration. The torch touches various districts and finally comes to the venue at Baihar in Balaghat. The promotional vehicle carrying the torch invites the young men of the Baiga tribe of the districts through which they pass.

Aero Sports and Adventure Sport

Aero Sports and Adventure Sport will also be organized on the occasion of Baiga Olympics. Balaghat Tourism Promotion Council, Tribal Development Department is playing a major role in this event, the same cultural department is also supporting it.

Hot Air Balloon Ride at Balaghat takes you on a flight over Kanha National Park, famous for its tigers. The hot air balloon ride offers a breathtaking ariel view of the pristine forest. The rides take off depending on good weather conditions and typically last for 1 hour in the mornings (around 6 am) and evenings (around 4 pm). The hot air balloons can take 8 to 11 passengers at a time. Recommended for offbeat, experiential, and inbound travellers.

Hot Air Balloon Sport

Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure.The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing. Wing shape is maintained by the suspension lines, the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing, and the aerodynamic forces of the air flowing over the outside.

Hot Air Baloon and paragliding sport are available during Baiga Olympics Event.Baiga Olympic is local event conducted by District Administration at Baihar Tehsil of Balaghat. Many types of traditional games are organized at the Bagga Olympics event. In these games, contestants of Baga tribe of Balaghat and tribal districts surrounding it participate. The Bagga Olympics event is held Between January to February.

It belongs to Jabalpur Division . It is located 55 KM towards East from District head quarters Balaghat. 2 KM from Baihar. 410 KM from State capital Bhopal
